CCR Evaluative Essay
Creative Critical Reflection: The song "Best Part of Me" is not clearly defined as one genre such as 'pop', but rather falls into a mixture, including indie, R&B soul, and pop. As it is an acoustic ballad and one of Ed Sheeran's slower, more romantic songs, it was easy to use and challenge different conventions that most music videos conform to when making a music video strictly defined by one specific genre. One of the main subjects represented in my music video is age and gender. The main actors, playing Ed and Yebba, are both young. Rather than having slightly older people to play the part, by having younger people, it is more relevant and can appeal to the target audience as younger people are more insecure and have a significantly lower self-esteem. Digipak Feedback & Plan to Implement Feedback
Teacher Feedback: The guitar image seems to be a different colour pallete (purely because of how much wood is in the photo). Is there a way to ‘cool’ those tones to make them match the cool blue hue or potential ‘warm’ up the other images with warmer tones? I love the back cover, it looks great! Considering star image and the artist usually having his face as part of the brand, I would suggest that you think about making your front cover a full frontal picture of ‘Ed Sheeran’ , his name and also include the album name. Make sure convention-wise that you include what is usually on an album digipack cover I would then choose between your images 2 & 3 for what goes inside as inside cover 1. After Effects Used
After Effects: For some of the dance scenes I used this tutorial to make a similar effect but on a video instead to make it look a bit more sophisticated than the original video, and I am really pleased with how it turned out. For the dance scenes, I wanted to recreate a look that was similar to a VHS tape, so it looked like old footage. I used this video to create this, however when I put an effect near the end of the video onto the dance, it looked weird and unnatural so I deviated from some aspects of the video and put what felt right for the music video.

Symbolism and Iconography
Symbolism and Iconography: '&burn' by Billie Eilish This video has effectively used and incorporated iconography and symbolism into their music video. The constant use of fire to match the lyrics emphasises the meaning behind the lyrics. Additionally, the first line of lyrics is 'Lips meet teeth and tongue' and one of the first shots is a close up of the girl's face, specifically her teeth and tongue when she says the lyrics. Furthermore, there is the repetition of the colour red. The girl's lips, nails and shirt are all the same/similar colours and when the guy playing Vincent starts rapping, one of the block colours used as an overlay is also red, so we see red as a common occurrence in scenes with both the girl and boy. When the lyrics in the chorus say 'I'll sit and watch your car burn' we see the direct link between visuals and lyrics when we literally see a car - a toy or figurine - being lit on fire, as well as the after effects used to h...

Pitch: Kevin and I went through the process of pitching our idea to people within our target group range for our music video. We recorded their responses and thoughts in regard to our pitch and put them together as shown below:
Updated Filming Schedule
Updated Filming Schedule: When planning when to film our music video, we originally planned to do it on the 22nd and/or the 26th of April. However, due to Covid forcing our talent to isolate, we have had to delay it several times as they got covid at different times. The new date for filming is next Tuesday, on the 12th of April, but the same time as what we had originally planned. Since everyone except Kevin has had Covid, there is no need for them to isolate anymore, and so filming will go underway. Next Tuesday we will only be filming the scenes with Oscar and Chloe, as we are planning to film Teacher Meggan and Tait in the school holidays as she has been busy with dance exams and teaching. This will allow us to start editing the footage of Chloe and Oscar and creating or getting ideas for our digipaks, and then later on adding in the dancing footage.

Music Video Age Rating: Online Music Videos get Age Ratings: The age ratings put in place on YouTube are part of a government-backed pilot scheme, which aims to protect children from unsuitable content. It follows concerns over explicit videos by artissts including Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke and Rihanna. The initial phase of this scheme found that roughly 20% of all videos would get a 12, 15 or 18 certificate. However, labels were not required to submit videos they felt wouldn't attract a rating. Among the songs deemed to require certification were Ellie Goulding's Love Me Like You Do - from the soundtrack to Fifty Shades of Grey. The video, which contained several excerpts from the erotic thriller, was rated 15 by the BBFC for "strong sex references".
