Digipak Feedback & Plan to Implement Feedback
Teacher Feedback:
- The guitar image seems to be a different colour pallete (purely because of how much wood is in the photo). Is there a way to ‘cool’ those tones to make them match the cool blue hue or potential ‘warm’ up the other images with warmer tones?
- I love the back cover, it looks great!
- Considering star image and the artist usually having his face as part of the brand, I would suggest that you think about making your front cover a full frontal picture of ‘Ed Sheeran’ , his name and also include the album name. Make sure convention-wise that you include what is usually on an album digipack cover
- I would then choose between your images 2 & 3 for what goes inside as inside cover 1.
- Overlay effect is cool, good job!
Peer Feedback:
The first person I asked recognised the genre as being soft pop, which fits into the theme of the song. Describing it in one word, they would describe it as 'soft'. The star image is Oscar and the guitar. Looking at the front cover, they said one adjective to best describe the star image is emotional.
The next person I asked when showed the photos, struggled a bit in terms of recognising the genre, but was able to recognise that the genre was pop. The mood/tone of the album imagery in one word was described as 'moody', which I appreciate as it is a more romantic song with darker undertones. In terms of the star image, she would describe the performer as 'brooding' and 'a loner'. When looking at the digipak, she couldn't tell what the third image was (a stage light) and was initially confused by the appearance of Chloe on the back cover until it was explained. They did, however, like the second photo (a close-up of Oscar's guitar as well as the first person who looked at the album).
Another person said similar things to the previous people, but suggested changing some of the photos, specifically the inner covers so that they're not too busy, which was caused by having the butterflies being too prominent and taking away from the overall feel.
