About Me and Why I Chose Media Studies:

My name is Brianna Hodder, and I am from Auckland, New Zealand. During my final year of school I decided to take the A2 level Media Studies class, hoping to extend my knowledge and understanding of how elements of media and technology can influence the world we live in. This year I'm looking forward to creating a music video that shows how the artist wanted to portray their music and the meaning behind their lyrics and/or music videos. Since I'm only one of two students taking this course this year, I'm a bit apprehensive about the challenges I will face with having to be proactive and stay on top of classwork with a smaller number of students to rely on. That being said, however, it will be interesting to see how things pan out this year.

One of the main reasons I love media studies is because it includes the history of media and the changes in technology that have taken place over the years to create what we see in today's generation. My strengths lie in the english based subjects so for me media studies is basically literature for movies, making it all the more interesting and fun to do.

  Creative Critical Reflection: The song "Best Part of Me" is not clearly defined as one genre such as 'pop', but rather falls into a mixture, including indie, R&B soul, and pop. As it is an acoustic ballad and one of Ed Sheeran's slower, more romantic songs,  it was easy to use and challenge different conventions that most music videos conform to when making a music video strictly defined by one specific genre.
