CONCEPT "Best Part of Me" Music Video (A song within the Pop/UK Pop genre) Target Audience: Gen Z (specifically 15-27 year olds) This age group tends to have the most experience with the themes that occur throughout the song, such as love and how it doesn't judge based on the flaws and insecurities people have. In addition to this, many younger people are able to relate to parts of the song that talks about our own insecurities that we can't see past but others do, therefore making it more personal and relatable compared to if it were targeted towards younger people. Institutional/Genre Conventions to be used: The stereotypical conventions that are used within the pop genre are bright colours, frequent use of colourful lighting etc. However, because this song has a slower tempo, we are challenging these stereotypical conventions and will be using lots of natural lighting, specifically during the dancing scenes, where we plan to only see the silhouettes with the sunset...

A2 Music Video Exemplars

T ake a look at some other A2 music videos on Youtube and post them on a blog post (along with the ones I posted for you to check out yesterday). Write a paragraph under each one with some thoughts about what impressed you about them. What did you like? What did you not like? What techniques did you notice that you'd like to try?  Ed Sheeran - Photograph: The music video the students made for Ed Sheeran's song, 'Photograph' carefully creates meaning in such a way that provides meaning and a background that the artist would have intended it to be interpreted as. In the video we see an older man living by himself and looking over old photos from when he was younger and in love. The use of different colours to represent the past and the present is clearly portrayed as the camera shots with the older man shows more dull and lifeless colours, which helps the audience understand that perhaps without love, life has less meaning. In the shots with the couple, young and in love,...

Welcome: About Me

About Me and Why I Chose Media Studies: My name is Brianna Hodder, and I am from Auckland, New Zealand. During my final year of school I decided to take the A2 level Media Studies class, hoping to extend my knowledge and understanding of how elements of media and technology can influence the world we live in. This year I'm looking forward to creating a music video that shows how the artist wanted to portray their music and the meaning behind their lyrics and/or music videos. Since I'm only one of two students taking this course this year, I'm a bit apprehensive about the challenges I will face with having to be proactive and stay on top of classwork with a smaller number of students to rely on. That being said, however, it will be interesting to see how things pan out this year. One of the main reasons I love media studies is because it includes the history of media and the changes in technology that have taken place over the years to create what we see in today's gener...
